SF Census takes the housing data the Census Bureau already publishes and organizes it the way people in San Francisco actually think about the city: by neighborhood.

The Census Bureau's own tools report by census tract, a statistical unit of a few thousand people that nobody uses in conversation. The city's Planning Department maintains an official list of which tracts make up each neighborhood, and this site applies it to the Census housing tables to produce a profile for each of 38 neighborhoods and 11 supervisor districts. The site is independent. It is not affiliated with the Census Bureau, the City and County of San Francisco, or any real estate company. Data is the 2020-2024 American Community Survey and the 2010 and 2020 censuses. Figures are reproduced as computed from the public tables; if you find an error, the method page shows the exact source so it can be traced.
