Where the Numbers Come From

The San Francisco City Survey is run by the Controller's Office, which publishes every response on DataSF. The figures here use the 2023 and 2026 surveys, 4,754 residents in all, because those are the years that record each resident's neighborhood. Answers are weighted to match the city's population, and each neighborhood is compared with the city in the same year so the two surveys can be combined. Neighborhoods with fewer than 40 responses are left out. The methodology page has the details.
